Rice & Carry is a fair trade project supporting women on the east coast of Sri Lanka and is part of the World Fair Trade Organization (WTFO).
Discarded rice and jute bags are processed into various upcycling products. The assortment is diverse and ranges from bags to cushion covers. By reprocessing supposed 'waste', Rice & Carry is working to combat local pollution.
The rice and spice bags usually come from markets or restaurants and are collected by a driver. In the factory, they are then washed, dried and sewn into various products by the employees.
Each cover is unique, as the spice bags are printed differently.
Since each bag is unique, there is no possibility to choose colors or motifs.
Note: Hand wash only
The print may fade due to environmental influences.
